We were working with the organization called Feed My Starving Children that helps to feed starving and malnourished children in forty five countries throughout the world. I had never heard of, nor worked with this organization before, but the people running the operation on Saturday were so incredibly organized and the day went so smoothly that I couldn't help but be completely impressed. When you're working with an organization that is that prepared it really helps to make you feel like you're helping that much more because you have the utmost faith that the intent of what you're doing is going to be followed through 100%. And I think that's important.
At the particular church I was at on Saturday they have been working with volunteers everyday for the last two weeks with the goal of feeding one million people. In the two hours I was there our group packed enough bags to feed over 32,000 people. That made me feel good.
Can you believe that is only takes 17 cents for one meal? That's just incredible. That means that every single cent can make a difference and within this organization 94% of every donation goes to feeding people and a mere 6% goes to administration and fund raising. Awesome.
I donated $10 and that's enough to feed a mother and child for one month.
