Thesis Project Book Covers

"An integrated branding campaign based around the illustrative reinterpretation of classic book covers directed toward junior-high-school students."

I'm liking these book covers, but wondering if adding playful, colorful illustrations to them gives a junior high kid a false sense of the tone of the book? Maybe the point is just to get them to open it in the first place. Maybe I'm just an old fogey.
