Le Vent

This video of Marina Kanno and Giacomo Bevilaqua from Staatsballett Berlin performing several jumps captured in slow motion at 1000 frames per second is so lovely. I'm posting it not only because it's great, but because it reminds me of my cousin Leslie.

Happy Friday ya'll!

Good Morning!

I've come to realize that over the last couple days that if I can quiet the nagging fears in my mind, what's running beneath is a stream of pure giddiness that I haven't felt in... I don't know how long.

So that's fun.

I'm drinking iced coffee, listening to Paul Simon and trying to enjoy it.

I just had to post this guy on account of how much I love him. Too stinkin' cute.

You can buy him and his friends here.

On things to come

You'll have to forgive lack of posts as my mind is everywhere this week. Basically due to the stress and excitement (in equal measure) to bidding on property.

Nothing is for sure yet, but the process of all of this has left me feeling intermittent waves of,

"Oh my God, this could actually happen, how fantastic!" to "Oh my God, this could actually happen, how terrifying!"

The one thing I know for sure is that every step of becoming a responsible adult is harder than the last, but somehow ends up being worth it.

And the other thing I know for sure is I wouldn't be anywhere in my life without the support of my family. So a public thank you to them is in order. Thank you!!!

Think happy ownership thoughts guys!

Not quite hide and seek

Last night I watched Louis while his parents were at a wake and he wanted to play hide and seek. He has a little bit left to learn about the strategies of the game.

Me: Ok, I’m going to count to ten.

Louis: But I don’t know where to hide.

Me: Hide in the living room.

Louis: OK!

Then after counting I entered the living room and see this. And he’s screaming "I hiding right here Auntie!!"

I love him.

Good Morning!

It's all work and very little play this week I'm afraid. I'm looking forward to not working from home soon and instead going for a walk with Louis. He'll take off down the block yelling, "Come on Auntie, come on! We're almost there!"

"Almost where Louis?" I'll ask him.

"To the building!" and then he'll look at me and get a bit more serious, "The building has lots and lots of eggs!"

And I'll figure out he's talking about the grocery store and convince him that we don't need to go there because his mom has enough eggs at home.

"Eggs at home?! Ok, sure!"

That's what happened last time at least.

Did I ever tell you guys how much my nephew is over the moon for eggs? He pretend cooks them in his play kitchen, he for real cooks them (highly supervised), he eats them regularly, he calls out their name when you walk in (or near) a grocery store and last week when he was at my house he insisted on checking my fridge for eggs and then counting all six of them in their small cradling carton.

I don't know how long the egg thing will last, but it's very entertaining.

I love him.

The painting above has little to do with eggs, but I like it. It's by David Stevenson.

On these warm nights

Bubbles with the little girls and staying outside until it's just too dark and time for pajamas. Thank goodness for unusually warm weather and little ones who remind you of the simple pleasures of popping bubbles and inflatable sea creatures.

Tonight... bubbles with the Lou Bear and watching him ride his bike really fast. Warm weather! Whoot!

What are you guys up to this weekend?

On headers and such

This header business is exactly the reason why I don't have any tattoos. I can design all day and all night for other people or projects, but when it comes to my things nothing is ever right... or good enough... or a proper representation... or whatever.

But the beauty of the blog header is that I can change it however much or as little as I want as my tastes change. And at some point you just have to change things up. It isn't imprinted in ink on my skin, it's just 900x300 pixels in a tiny corner of the internet.

So enjoy the new header. It may be up a week, it may be up another three years. ;)

Winter on the lake

Another fantastic weekend up north. And with our unseasonably warm weather this week we got to spend quite a bit of time outside while Simba (though he spent quite a bit of time as Batman and then a bit at the end as Snoopy) napped. How funny that we were sitting around playing cards Saturday night and all had that same feeling of sun burnt faces from the lake that you'd have in August. Awesome.

March

It's no big secret that I loathe the month of March, but on this first day of the month this year I'm trying my best to stay positive. Spring will be here eventually. It's possible posting will be light over the next few weeks though as work is busy and I have to fight to find continued inspiration.

But some mornings I can hear birds chirping outside my apartment windows and that makes me happy.

Image from here, and found here, but I can't find the actual artist.
